Electricity

Electricians are key professionals in the building trade, responsible for designing, installing, connecting, distributing, maintaining and repairing electrical networks and equipment.

Electrician

Electrician

Carries out the electrical installation of a building: studies the wiring diagram, lays the cables, connects the various items of equipment, etc. They check the installation before powering it up, and carry out tests and adjustments. They maintain the electrical circuits (diagnoses and locates faults, replaces parts, etc.) in accordance with technical and safety standards. In an industrial environment, they install, connect and maintain different types of equipment (heating equipment, surveillance networks, etc.). In addition to working as an electrician, you may move into a supervisory role, leading a team or managing a site.

    Building studies

From design to construction, the building and public works sector involves a very wide range of professions. New needs are emerging, often linked to environmental concerns. Topographical surveyors and construction economists support public and private developers in the implementation of their projects.

    Land Surveyor

    Land Surveyor

They are the first to intervene on the ground when works or developments are planned: they measure, calculate, demarcate and draw up plans. The surveyor or topographer is a person who works in the field: surveying, laying out and checking are all part of the topographer’s job. This profession usually offers the advantage of a balance between field work and office work, which involves using the measurements taken to transform them into usable coordinates; the surveyor will bring them back to life by means of a plan, a graph or values relating to a line, an area or a volume.

    Construction economists

    Construction economists

They are involved at every stage of the construction project. They carry out initial studies based on the resources to be deployed and determine whether the project is financially feasible. If so, the programme becomes clearer. The technician can then determine, taking into account all the elements that have been specified (constraints, necessary adaptations to the site, chosen construction techniques, etc.), the financial envelope that will have to be allocated to the works. At the same time, they carry out a number of tasks: technical description of the works, drawing up the price offer from the building or public works company. During the course of the work, they help to maintain the initial commitment by ensuring financial control of the work; they draw up progress reports, revise prices and analyse the results of the site.

    Building modeller (BIM TITLE)

    Building modeller (BIM TITLE)

BIM (Building Information Modeling) ModellerS are responsible for modelling the digital mock-up of a construction project for one or more trades: they draw the structure in 3D to ensure optimum visualization before construction.  They apply the rules laid down by the BIM Managers and work under the supervision of their line manager, the BIM Coordinators. BIM Modellers work either for a technical design office (structure, fluids, etc.) or for an architectural firm. They can also work alongside manufacturers wishing to transcribe their catalogues into parametric BIM objects (such as those available on databases like Polantis or BIMobject).
