Graphic Design and Production

The graphic designer’s job is to translate ideas into images. Whether in the communications, press, publishing or advertising sectors, their role remains the same. Whereas in the past, graphic designers mainly used their pencils, today they work mainly on the computer, thanks to DTP software.

Graphic designers analyse the customer’s request and express it through a visual design. Then comes the creation of the graphic charter: choice of paper, colours, typefaces, layout principles, words… The resulting image can then be applied to a variety of media: posters, book covers, flyers, communication documents… This image-professionsal is involved at every stage of the production process: design and creation, execution and printing.

  • Studio photographer / Corporate photographer: Prepares, organizes and shoots in studio or on location. Other job titles: industrial and advertising photographer, technical photographer, specialized photographer, artistic photographer…
  • Press photographer / Reporter: They capture a fact or event in a photograph. They report on their own initiative or at the request of press agencies.

    Sign-making and Display Graphics

    Signs are an essential part of a business’s communication, punctuating the streets with their lights and colours. And yet their design and manufacture remain poorly known professions. Versatility is an essential feature of the trade, with work in metal, glass, PVC, electricity… The activity extends to the installation of creations. Sign-making has the same goals, but uses different tools, mainly adhesives.

    Graphic designers can produce advertising, visual communication or decorative products (adhesives, banners, roll-ups, vehicle decorations, etc.), individually or in series. they prepare the project by drawing or DTP mock-up, before producing and installing the lettering, graphics and decor. They use traditional tools (cutting, printing, painting) and specialized software. They also help to welcome customers and suppliers.

    Sign maker

    Makes all types of relief signs. They manage visual communication projects from beginning to end: site visits, 2D or 3D models, estimates, production launches and follow-ups, installations and maintenance. The sign makers are multi-skilled: they can work with glass, plastic, metal and wood, and are proficient in electrical installation, DTP, CAD, etc.
